The Zentraedi return to Tirol and Zor is given the Super Dimensional Fortress 1 to find new areas for the Tirolian Empire to colonize. They also plan on sending the Zentraedi to the other planets in the Local Group for Annexation. When Zor asks for the release of his father as he's done everything they asked of him, they inform him he's dead. Realizing his trust in them has only lead to ruin, he vows revenge. He reunites with Arla and forges papers to transfer the Protoculture Matrix to the SDF-1 so they can't make new Protoculture, and programs his computer to have a power surge to destroy his records of how to make another Matrix and the greenhouse to eliminate the Flowers of Life they collected. Vard finds out and confronts Zor but when Zor turns his back on him, Vard fires and hits Arla as she tackles Zor out of the way. Zor then flies into a fury and guns down his former friend. As Nimuul makes Cabel the new head of science with Zor out on missions, the Greenhouse blows and word reaches him the Matrix is gone. Zor, onboard the SDF-1 tells the Zentraedi they are on a secret mission to seed worlds with the Flower of Life and goes forth to do so. Later the Invid attack Zentraedi as they have evolved into a more dangerous lifeform that now threatens the empire. While on an outpost planet, Zor sees an Invid Hive ship and realizes how his actions have upset the balance and he sends the SDF-1 off to where the Invid and Robotech Masters won't misuse it. With them stranded on the planet, they battle the Invid and eventually drive them off, but Zor is fatally wounded.
